The Conventions are over

I for one am glad that these, ooh look at how special we are and how we are going to save the country, slap on the back fests are done. Now we can get the candidates into the debates and around the country actually address the issues. Sarah Palin is removed from the cocoon, and her real self will pop out. Which is a crafty politician. You don't have to be in politics to be good at it. She seems to say one thing and do another, whatever gets her the vote, then will do what she wants. But that's every politician, we elect them for their judgement, and that their judgement is similar to what we want. But I dislike politicians that promise voters that they will deliver something, and then when it proves unpopular will turn their back on their word.

I really don't see whats wrong with the earmarks, a leader should get whatever they can for the state, don't be embarrassed by it. Just say, I was trying to get the people of Alaska all the materials to make their lives better I could. I am not ashamed of it. But then campaigning on the fact you are against earmarks and pork barrel politics, is just shameful. Do you not think it won't get back at you? Then you look like a liar and no one will trust you. People don't mind if you make mistakes and then admit to them. People love to forgive, it makes you real. Just like using a family issue and making it a public issue. But that is useless, I don't care about your family, I care what you will do for me an American.

John McCain is a man I respected years ago. When he was a Maverick. When he went against the Religious Right that was attached at the hip of the Republican Party. George Bush was smart to embrace them, and won. So McCain drifted more to the right to get the nomination. This is the main reason why I won't vote for him. I have no doubt if elected he would do whatever for the US. He is a proud American, and would have his agenda and do it his way, and finally get rid of the right wing thats on his back. But how can you change politics, when you are playing it so hard, like everyone else. We need a fresh approach and a new way. America has been engulfed by the era of fear and war for too long. We haven't had a attack since 9/11, and there is no doubt that we could be attacked tomorrow. And from this article it looks like he'll sway back to the middle to pick up those undecided independents to get in the White House. This is politics and not how to make America better.

His selection of Palin, may seem smart to get those conservatives, but does nothing to stregthen his weakness and the main topic of this election. The Economy. With unemployment data coming out and corporate earnings reports, the economy is going to dominate and McCain has zero ideas for the turnaround after the credit collapse. The republicans will try to bring this to National Security, but its been a while since 9/11 and people are more concerned about paying the bills, then worrying about Osama Bin Laden.

We are in the two month stretch and we'll get all the commercials and the debates and the tons of hours of pundits. But in the end we as Americans are making an important decision, one that could change the face of America. Look at the 2000 election. Who know what would happen after that election. America is different today. We need a Passport soon to get into Canada. CANADA! Maybe thats a good thing but not really. But getting a Passport, probably means, I'll want to use it, to go to other countries. Like not in North America. Where the people are different.

But thank god the conventions are over and I can get back to Americas true past time. Football.
